Lights to remove the darkness
A typical sight in most of the temples in South India is this collection of lit earthen lamps believed to remove the ill effects of various planetary movements on human destinies. The oil used can be either Ghee (Clarified Butter) or sesame seed oil which is preferred for Shani (Saturn). To know more about Shani in the Hindu Mythology, click here.
